Mota-Engil positions itself as largest private energy operator in Mexico
Mota-Engil has reached an agreement to build, maintain, and explore energy power plants in Mexico, for 30 years.

The operation will be developed through the subsidiary Sociedade Generadora Fénix, SAPI de CV (“SGF”), held in 51% by Mota-Engil México and 49% by the Mexican Union of Electricians (SME).
After 50 years of State Monopoly, SGF will have the concession of five power plants currently operating and presenting an installed capacity of 288 MW (Necaxa, Tepexic, Patla, Tezcapa, Lerma), and ten small renewable hydro plants with an installed capacity of approximately 20 MW. In total the potential installed capacity of these plants is 2,000 MW.
Mota-Engil in due time will develop an investment plan with the goal of operating these facilities and double the current installed capacity.
Mota-Engil will also have the concession of an Industrial Complex – Thermal Power Plant Ing. Jorge Luque Loyola (“CTE JLL”), in the Valley of Mexico, currently disabled, but where the construction of a combined cycle power plant with a generation capacity up to 1,700 MW is foreseen.
SGF already holds all licenses required to implement projects, in particular environmental and interconnection with the grid licenses.
Thus, Mota-Engil ensures a leading position in the opening of the Mexican deregulated electricity market, creating new perspectives to participate in a sector with high growth levels.
